ANGRY Chester City fans reeling from the demise of their beloved club have vowed to boycott next season if the club is rebuilt under the control of the Vaughan family.

The City Fans United (CFU) supporters group say they were ‘disgusted’ by the lack of support shown by Stephen Vaughan senior and his aides during the make or break meeting in which the blues were booted out of the Conference league.

“The Vaughan family showed utter contempt for Chester City Football Club - they did not even attend on the day to plead their case for Chester City FC and its 125 year history,” said Jeff Banks, spokesman for CFU, which now has more than 1,000 members.

He added: “Fans are utterly disgusted. They say they will boycott games under the control of the Vaughan family.”

Members of CFU are now ploughing ahead with plans to set up a phoenix club in light of the club’s expulsion as they eagerly await the outcome of a winding up order faced by the club on March 10.

Meanwhile the Vaughan family spoke yesterday of their intent to do all they could to keep Chester Football Club in business. But CFU members, who just days ago staged a public meeting in Chester rallying support for a phoenix club, will meet with council officials once more this week to plead their case for the Blues’ stadium to be leased by a new club.

“We have a watertight business plan and will present this to the council. We are encouraged by the welcome reception we have had to setting up a phoenix club and are not deterred in any way by Mr Vaughan’s recent comments that CFU are not credible.”
