THE organisation dedicated to boosting sporting opportunity and achievement in local communities has announced three new signings.
New trustees appointed by Cheshire and Warrington Sports Partnership include representatives from the world of basketball, football and rugby league.
Peter Hawkins, from Chester, spent 20 years in the food industry. He is currently a director of the Cheshire Jets basketball team and recently established the Jets Foundation, which operates a number of major sports engagement programmes across Cheshire, involving more than 11,000 young people.
“I’m delighted to be part of the Trust team,” he said. “Together we have an opportunity to create a real value in our local communities by encouraging more people of all ages to get involved in sport for enjoyment, for health and for meeting people.”
He is joined by Neil Kelly of Stockton Heath, currently foundation director of Warrington Wolves Community Learning and Sport Foundation which delivers a variety of sports-related projects linked to the education, young people and health agendas.
The third addition to the partnership’s trustee team is Mark Hardcastle from Harrogate. Mark is the regional manager of National Game at the Football Association and co-ordinates the Football Association’s National Game strategy across the North West.
CWSP chairman David Newton, a former Cheshire county councillor, said: “We’ve added some real strengths and enthusiasm to the team which will stand us in good stead.”
