JIM HARVEY today reflected on his side's fourth successive league defeat.
The Blues boss praised his players' performance despite suffering a 2-0 defeat at second placed Stevenage Borough in a controversial conclusion to the match which culminated in defender Kevin Roberts needing five stitches for an unpunished headbutting incident.
He said: "I thought the boys were excellent and I think they provided their most disciplined performance since I have been here.
"The 2-0 scoreline doesn't reflect the game and, barring their two goals I don't think they had another shot and I don't think our keeper had a save to make.
"We were disciplined and on occasions they (Stevenage) were struggling with our formation and they made a lot of tactical changes - they were changing to accommodate us.
"We had the best chances in the first half and I don't know how the ball stayed out.
"Kelly had a header that came off the post but we couldn't get the knockdown, then Gregg Blundell went in and their fella kept it out, but I don't know how."
"I didn't think we got anything at all from the referee, and when he booked one of their players for a blatant elbow that forced Clark Keltie off the pitch, I thought it should have been a red.
"And towards the end of the game when Roberts had been head-butted that needed five stitches in his eye, the officials just blanked it totally.
"The refereeing decisions were pretty poor, but the attitude, effort and commitment of my players was excellent. The way they dug in was first class."
