Booth aims to help Blues out

ROBBIE BOOTH hopes to do Chester a huge favour over the next month.

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a one month loan deal with neighbours Vauxhall Motors.

Liverpool-born Booth has only appeared once for Chester so far this season as a substitute in the FA Cup home replay against Gainsborough Trinity.

And he welcomes the chance to win back his fitness during a loan spell at Vauxhall Motors who are managed by his neighbour Carl Macauley.

“My chances to play at Chester this season have been restricted by a back injury and I have hardly played during the opening three months of the season,” Booth said.

“I have been really struggling after experiencing a spasm in my back one day at work and that caused a problem with a sciatic nerve in my left leg.

“I do a lot of digging and landscape gardening and I think the cause of my back problem was from when I did a lot of heavy digging and lifting in pre-season.

“I couldn’t bend or touch my toes because the pain was so bad, but I've been given a series of exercises to do to help the problem and I've been training with the Chester lads for the last two or three weeks.

“Because of the fixture schedule at Chester I haven’t really had a chance to get games under my belt, but I’m now hoping the loan spell at Vauxhall will provide an opportunity for me to play regularly and help get my fitness back.”

Booth is looking forward to being part of a Vauxhall team that face fixtures against Chester’s rivals Brackley Town tomorrow and at FC Halifax Town on Tuesday night.
He added: “I’m hoping that I can really help Chester out by being a big influence for Vauxhall in their games against Brackley and Halifax.

“Vauxhall face a difficult schedule, but hopefully they can pick up valuable points and also help Chester’s cause.

“I haven’t missed a Chester game since I’ve been sidelined and, although the Chester lads haven’t been playing as well as they could, it’s been pleasing to see the team continuing to pick up points.”

Booth is keen to get himself fitter and capitalise on playing regularly before focusing his sights on a return to Chester for what he hopes will be another title-winning campaign.

He has netted 14 goals in 78 appearances during his time at Chester and is excited about the prospect of seeing the club continuing to progress.

He said: “The gaffer has told me that he thinks a spell at Vauxhall will prove very beneficial.

“I’ve got nothing against the gaffer bringing players in like Danny Williams who has signed on loan from Kendal Town until the end of the year.

“A club like Chester needs to provide plenty of competition for places within the squad and players like Danny can really help strengthen what we have at the moment.

“I know the Chester lads are frustrated that they haven’t got a match tomorrow because everyone wants to ensure the club builds on a good momentum.

“I’m sure the gaffer will get the lads in for training tomorrow and then I’m certain that most of the lads will be involved in next week’s Cheshire Cup tie at Cheadle.

“But I’m now aiming to get myself fit enough to come back to Chester and then play my part in helping the club try and clinch another title.”

Chester's scheduled match against Harrogate Town tomorrow has been postponed because of the Yorkshire club’s FA Cup first round tie at Torquay United.
