CHESTER boss Neil Young has signalled his intentions for next season by agreeing a deal to sign striker Adam Proudlock.

Proudlock has a wealth of Football League experience having played in the Championship with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town.

The 31-year-old recently helped AFC Telford firstly win promotion from the Conference North and then stay in the Conference Premier League last term.

Speaking on the club's website, Chester manager Young said: "I've been looking to bring in a big strong centre forward and Adam fits the bill.

"He has a proven record at a higher level and we can also benefit from the fact that he's also partnered Nathan Jarman previously.

"Adam is fit and raring to go."

Telford boss Andy Sinton offered Proudlock new terms for next season, but the striker chose not to accept them.

Sinton - whose playing career overlapped with Proudlock's at Wolves - said there were no hard feelings following his decision.

“Unfortunately, Adam had a series of injuries last season which was reflected in the offer we made him, but he did well for us and we wish him all the best,” said Sinton.

Proudlock, who suffered a broken ankle during the 2011/12 Conference Premier League campaign, made eight appearances for Telford last season, scoring once.

He will compete with Jarman and Marc Williams for a place in Chester's starting Xi next term.

Young has also brought in goalkeeper Martin Fearon from Northern Premier League One outfit Lancaster City.

The 23-year-old joined Lancaster from Clitheroe last summer and went on to make 32 appearances, keeping nine clean sheets in the process.

Fearon, who started his career at Accrington Stanley before switching to Burnley, will provide competition for number one John Danby.

A statement on the Lancaster website read: "The keeper has been ever consistent, a fans favourite and whilst we are disappointed to lose a talented player, we are delighted he has earned the chance to ply his trade at a higher level and wish him well in his future career."

Young is also hoping to bring in another player this week.

- Former Chester City striker Daryl Clare has been appointed manager of Louth Town who play in the Northern Counties Division One East.

The 33-year-old, who netted 200 career goals while at Boston, Chester City, and Burton Albion, will be assisted by long time friend Carl Forman.

Clare, who lives in the Lincolnshire town and has recently completed the first year of a sports science degree and Level 2 FA coaching badge since leaving Cambridge United, has jumped at the chance to manage Louth.

"I needed a break and kept my head down for a few months, but now I'm ready and was concentrating playing again next year,” said Clare.

"I had a few offers to do pre-season but the vice-chairman of Louth rang and asked if I'd be interested, so I went for a look around and it's a great little club with fantastic potential.

"The only problem is that there is no money. The players don't get paid and neither will I. But I want to help bring in some high-profile friendlies and sponsorship to give the players a bit of petrol money."

Clare, who won the Golden Boot in helping Chester City to the Conference title in the 2003-04 season, is hoping to arrange a friendly match against Chester.
