SUBSTITUTE Michael Wilde secured the Blues all three points with an 88th minute header.
Wilde had replaced Iain Howard in the 70th minute after seeing Chester continually frustrated by Chasetown's well drilled defence.
But the prolific marksman produced the all important breakthrough towards the end of the match when he nodded home from Liam Brownhill's left wing cross.
Chris Simm and Matty McNeil had both seen goals ruled out by offside flags as Chester failed to capitalise on their greater share of possession and chances.
But Wilde had the final word to extend Chester's winning run to eight games.
