TWO new jobs have been created in Colwyn Bay as a new bank opens its doors.

Principality, Wales’ largest building society, has officially opened its new agency on Penrhyn Road after being taken on by local financial advisor firm 75point3.

Assembly Member Darren Millar was joined by the Mayor of Colwyn Bay, Cllr Hazel Meredith, to cut the ribbon at a special opening last week.

The Colwyn Bay branch of 75point3 was the first of the chain to open, in 1999. Now the company of financial advisers has branches across North Wales and Chester.

Commenting on the new partnership, Director Stephen Jones said: “We have a real desire to bring mutuality back, with a building society that is known for doing so much good work in the local community.
“We put a lot of importance into putting something back into the community, which is exactly what Principality does across Wales. Having a good financial organisation in town really adds real value. For example good mortgages mean houses sell, chains move and ultimately communities evolve. The economy progresses”.

Darren Millar AM welcomed the news following announcement some other banks in the town will be reducing their opening hours.

He said: “It’s fantastic to see a business opening its doors in my constituency and I was thrilled to be invited to the official launch. This is a real good news story, especially given the spate of bank closures and reduced counter services elsewhere in the local area. I’d like to wish every one at 75point3 and Principality all the best with this venture”.
