Detectives are appealing for witnesses to an assault that took place in Chester last week.

A 30-year old man from the area was found in a collapsed state at about 1pm on Friday, at the junction of Westminster Road and Law Street in Hoole.

Initial investigations suggest the victim became involved in a discussion with two other men prior to the assault taking place.

He sustained a head injury and is currently being treated at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who can offer any information that may assist the enquiry. They are asked to contact detectives at Chester CID on 0845 458 0000, or alternatively information can be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
