PUPILS in Chester has been thanked for raising money to fix a badly damaged school in a Third World country.

For two years, the King’s School, in Wrexham Road, have been fundraising for the project in Ambohimandroso, Madagascar.

Before the scheme, the school had been destroyed by a cyclone and conditions were so poor it discouraged parents from sending their children to school.

After numerous fundraising events by the King’s students, parents and staff, there are now new classrooms and equipment, while the number of children who can attend

has risen from 80 to 175 in just over one year.
|It is hoped the King’s students can visit the school in Madagascar soon.
