ASPIRING young stars are being urged to make some noise this summer as part of a police-led competition.
Cheshire Police are encouraging young people all over Cheshire to take part in the Upbeat contest which includes the chance to win a day as a rock star, a session in a recording studio, airtime on selected stations in Cheshire and photographic and design time for an album cover.
Bands, solo singers or groups have been asked to write, perform and record a three-minute song based on one of the Upbeat topics, which can be found online at www.upbeat.uk.com
Contestants are asked to write a an original song and all can be viewed on the Cheshire Police YouTube page.
A spokesman said: “Cheshire Police is organising the competition to highlight a new website for young people and teenagers in Cheshire. The site provides advice on policing related matters and issues that affect young people. The website uses a variety of interactive features such as videos and online magazines.
“Upbeat not only highlights on-going key issues that affect teenagers but also talks about up- to-date topics, ensuring the site is consistent with stories currently in the media.”
Videos can be uploaded to YouTube by emailing upbeat@cheshire.pnn.police.uk or send it on DVD/CD to Cheshire Constabulary Headquarters, Clemonds Hey, Oakmere Road, Winsford, CW7 2UA.
Deadline for applications is August 16, and there is no limit to the numbers of bands or groups who apply from any one school and applicants can enter as many times as they want. The judging panel will consist of a member of Cheshire Constabulary, a studio producer and three young people from local schools.
Full terms and conditions can be found at www.upbeat.uk.com or search on Facebook.
