NEIL YOUNG has his sights focused on Chester’s newly-released league fixtures.
The Blues boss is determined to prepare his squad of players for the club’s opening fixture at Warrington Town next month after seeing this Saturday’s scheduled friendly at Rhyl, and Tuesday’s match at Airbus UK Broughton, both cancelled due to the advice of North Wales Police after trouble marred the Blues’ opening pre-season match at Colwyn Bay last Saturday.
The Blues’ opening league fixture will be played on Tuesday, August 24, and will be followed by the team’s first home fixture at the Deva Stadium, on Bank Holiday Monday, August 30, against Prescot Cables.
Young said: “Warrington Town away for our opening fixture will be a tough test for us.
“I know Warrington manager, Joey Dunn, very well and he has got a well organised side who will ensure that the small compact ground at Cantilever Park will be a difficult place for us to go and play.
“I’m really looking forward to the start of our season and our first home fixture against Prescot Cables on Bank Holiday Monday which should pull in a big crowd.
“I’m obviously disappointed that we aren’t playing on August 21 like all the other sides in our division, but we have a blank date on that day, and we will also miss out on August 28 because of clubs being involved in FA Cup preliminary round ties.”
