DRAMATIC students in Chester took to the stage  to take part in an unique performance of Arabian Nights.

More than 40 students from Years Seven to 10 at The Bishops’ High School in Chester took part in the two-night drama and music presentation to high acclaim.

Department staff unusually chose not to hold auditions for the play, but instead asked pupils to show commitment to weekly rehearsals for a special inclusive performance.

The unique show saw every performer remaining on stage for the whole of the performance.

Andy Clarkson, head of drama, said: “The final performance was a culmination of the skills developed throughout the rehearsal process, which included teamwork, exploration of directorial crafts and a sharing of creativity.

“Performances went extremely well and feedback was fantastic.”

The process also involved a matinee dress rehearsal to pupils from Cherry Grove and Huntington Primary Schools.

Year Eight performer, Michael Bolam, said: “Being in the performances was an amazing experience. I learnt a lot of new skills, made many new friends from different year groups and loved performing to such large audiences. I can’t wait to be involved in the next performance.”
