University conference for students of biological science

ASPIRING biologists are being invited to a student science conference taking place in Chester.

Lower sixth students considering a career in biological science will have an opportunity to study a range of subjects from crime scene investigations to the biology of sexual attraction at the University of Chester conference entitled ‘Biology: The Place Where Science Meets Society’.

Today, the students will have the chance to take part in a series of hands-on sessions aimed at raising awareness of the value of studying science at a higher level.

Acting head of biological sciences, Dr Basma Ellahi, said: “The workshops will give a flavour of the different style of teaching at university and are linked to science, medicine and health subjects with clear employability pathways.

“The department of biological sciences is a modern, well-equipped department and with more than 40 members of academic and technical staff and we can deliver a range of opportunities from in a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and research opportunities.”

In a series of workshops, the conference will cover a diverse range of subjects within animal applications, human sciences, and nutrition and dietetics.
