A NEW Fairtrade directory will provide residents in Chester and the surrounding area with a comprehensive guide to where to source their Fairtrade products.
Cheshire West and Chester Council is currently collating a Fairtrade Directory which will list and promote local suppliers, retailers, caterers and faith organisations that sell Fairtrade products and will help residents and visitors to find out where they can buy such goods.
The directory will be available online on the council’s website and paper copies will be distributed to libraries and visitor centres as well as handed out during Fairtrade events.
Fairtrade member champion councillor Kate Birtwistle said: “We are working on gaining Fairtrade status and this directory will be a key part of our bid.
“The council is really pleased to be able to support its local businesses with the directory as well as encouraging residents and visitors to buy Fairtrade products and thereby supporting some of the world’s poorest workers and farmers.”
Businesses and organisations based in the borough who would like to be included in the directory should contact Stefania Isbell on stefania.isbell@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk
