YOUNG leaners from across the region will be praised at an event at the University of Chester later this month.
Staff at Aimhigher (Cheshire and Warrington) are hosting an award evening on Thursday, June 24, to commemorate the achievements of the learners in target schools across the region.
Gavin Segal from Aimhigher said: “This event is a wonderful opportunity for the young people to enjoy and celebrate their successes among friends and family.
There will be a chance to find out a little more about what they can do at university as well as getting more information about potential career choices.”
He added the young people have “worked hard and taken part in a wide range of activities and events that have been designed to enrich their current curriculum and to help them consider the benefits of Higher Education”.
Aimhigher is a national programme to raise awareness of the benefits that higher education can bring to young people, whatever their background, and to increase awareness of the wide range of courses that are available.
Aimhigher staff work to ensure that young people are able to make informed choices about their future and perhaps consider options that they may not have otherwise looked at. Since 2003 thousands of activities, events and projects have taking place and the awards will seek to identify and celebrate learners who have overcome significant barriers or made particularly inspiring personal learning journeys.
The event will feature a range of displays, activities and demonstrations at the beginning of the evening as well as a crime scene investigation lab, a classroom medic’s stand and a circus skills workshop. Each award is sponsored and many local and national companies and organisations are providing sponsorship.
