Newton Primary School teachers Katie Soltock and Charlotte Pleavin enjoy all the fun of the fundraising event in support of the Haiti disaster appeal. 

BIG-HEARTED children at Newton Primary School in Chester have raised £800 in aid of the victims of the Haiti disaster.

Year Six children at the Kingsway West school organised a host of events during a day-long fundraiser including a non-uniform day, raffles, cake sales, face-painting and dance games.

Teachers also got in to the spirit of things after the completed a sponsored run around the school playground dressed as a horse.

Headteacher Mark Griffiths said: “We are especially proud of our wonderful children who arranged everything and our generous parents who gave so willingly to this very worthwhile cause.”
