LOVE is already in the air for one woman after finding a diamond engagement ring in her glass of champagne at a Chester hotel.
Staff of The Club and Spa at Hoole Hall are celebrating the first engagement to take place in their luxury couple’s suite since they opened in November.
Nichola Faddes and Alan Shaw went for a spa day as a treat for Nichola’s impending 30th birthday.
After a day of pampering in the luxury couple’s suite Alan finally plucked up the courage to pop the question.
Alan said: “It took some planning to make the day happen. I made sure I got Nichola’s father’s permission before I did anything.
“We have five beautiful children between us so a babysitter was top on the list of things to arrange before the day.
“I spent some time looking at venues in the area and some friends suggested the new spa that had opened at Doubletree by Hilton Chester, I got in touch with Stephanie the spa manager and she helped me organise every detail.”
Following a couples’ massage they retired to the spa bath in the rose filled couple’s suite, to nibble chocolates and sip champagne, when Nichola spotted something sparkling in the bottom of her glass.
Nichola said: “I couldn’t believe it. I spotted the ring shining away then looked up to see Alan on one knee in the tub.
“After I said ‘yes’ Alan opened the door to the spa staff to tell them. Everyone was waiting outside and they all cheered and congratulated us, it was a magical day and the perfect proposal.
“The couple’s suite was out of this world overlooking the Victorian walled garden and Cheshire countryside, very romantic.”
The happy couple are now busy planning a wedding in Mexico for 2011 and are hoping the whole family will be able to make it out there for their big day.
Alan said: “It was the dream proposal for the woman of my dreams, Nichola. The wedding has a lot to live up to after this.”
