A MAN found dead in a car in Ellesmere Port has been named as Stuart Lester.
Police cordoned off a busy market car park for more than five hours after Mr Lester, of Horstone Gardens, Great Sutton, was found dead at the wheel of a car.
All three emergency services were called to the Market Square, Ellesmere Port, after a passer by alerted them to the grim find.
A nearby shop worker making his way to work is reported to have discovered Mr Lester inside the vehicle just before 6.45am on Tuesday.
Police say they are not treating the incident as suspicious and added that they believe the man is local.
Mr Lester is believed to be aged in his mid thirties although his exact age has yet to be confirmed.
Emergency services covered the car with a plastic sheet and kept passers by away from the scene.
One witness said: “I was passing through the car park as I do every morning on my way to work, and I saw a lot of activity, ambulance and police mainly.
“The area was being cordoned off and I knew that there was something dreadfully wrong. One man was standing nearby in tears, there has obviously been a terrible, terrible shock”.
A statement from Cheshire police said: “At 6.45am this morning, Cheshire Police and other emergency services attended a report of a deceased adult male on Market Square, Ellesmere Port.
"At this time the cause of death is not being treated as suspicious and a coroner’s file will be prepared.”
