AN EXHIBITION which shows the best and quirkiest moments of Chester life through the photography of a blogger starts this weekend.

The exhibition “Twit Chester” - a play on the well-known twitter account’s name S***Chester - takes place at Handels Court Gallery, on Northgate Street, from September 16 to October 16.

The man behind the exhibition told the [itals] Leader that it was “strange” that he was putting on an exhibition for a twitter account which he only started 18 months ago. He said: “I never expected the account to take off like it has and it is very strange. I’m pretty excited for the VIP opening on Friday, we have quite a lot of people coming including Cllr Sam Dixon.”

The exhibition is a series of photographs which the account has posted online over the past 18 months. The subjects include dramatic sunsets over parts of the city, events which have taken place in the last year, as well as graffiti and more comical pictures of city life.

He added: “There are around 50 pictures all together. There is a couple of nice sun sets, one of Les Battersby in the city, one I took when Chester FC were relegated last year of the sun setting behind the stadium, one of a fracking protest at the council HQ which is quite dramatic, the closure of Cineworld, Brook Street festival, Mid Summer parade, and more.

“It is basically everything in Chester - anything going on or I find funny. I wanted to show people who say nothing happens in Chester what does go on.

“I think my favourite picture is one called ‘The Zombie’. I was just walking to work at around 7.30am and there was a bloke walking down Abbey Street and he was drunk and I took a photo in black and white of him. Weirdly his mum follows the account and recognised him in the picutre and she really liked it.

“It makes the everyday seem a little strange and quirky.”
