A POST Office worker has raised £750 for charity by having her head shaved.

Debbie Buckley, who works in the canteen at the Post Office site on Jupiter Drive, in Chester, is to split the money raised between the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and Breast Cancer Research.

Debbie, who has lived in Blacon for 20 years, said she decided to have her hair cut off after her sister, Diane Hall, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She said: “She is having chemotherapy and that is why I shaved my hair off, because she lost hers.

“It was to give her support and to raise some money for research into the disease.”

Debbie decided to split the money raised between Breast Cancer Research and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd because a former neighbour spent his last few days in the Backford hospice.

Debbie said: “They did a great job for him. I went to visit him and I didn’t know what to expect. I thought it would be depressing but the place wasn’t at all. It was peaceful and the staff were brilliant.”

Despite raising so much money for the two charities Diane said she wouldn’t shave her head again.

“A lot of people said it suits me but it doesn’t feel right to me, I’m definitely not keeping it” said Debbie.

“my hair was shoulder length before and I’m looking forward to getting it back.”
