A TRAIN service was delayed yesterday evening when a man covered in blood was spotted walking along the track.

Eye witness Sarah Garrod from Hoole said: “I spotted a man walking down the rail tracks by the walls on Canal Street, Chester.

“An Arriva Train Wales service heading to Flint had stopped and the driver got out to speak to the man, whose head and right hand were covered in blood.

“The police came onto the track and approached the man and took his phone from him.

“The police officer then started talking to someone on the phone. As the driver walked back towards us, he said the man was losing a lot of blood.”

A spokesman for Arriva Trains Wales said: “There was an incident on the 16.50 Holyhead to Shrewsbury train when a British Transport Police officer had to guide a man from the track.

“The incident caused a 17-minute delay and Arriva Trains Wales apologises for that delay.”

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “The only incident we have recorded for Chester was at 4.57pm, when our assistance was required by Cheshire Police to help with a fight which had broken out outside Chester Station.”
