TWO amateur golfers from Chester are set to embark on a charity adventure.
Over three days, from April 25 to April 27, Tony Sharp and Mark Chester will raise funds to help develop and support the growing Who Let The Dads Out? network wich seeks to engage with dads, father figures and their children.
Tony and Mark will be playing 117 holes of golf – one for each of the 117 Who Let The Dads Out? groups registered at the end of 2013, the 10th anniversary year.
The target is to raise at least £2,000. This is being raised through sponsorship from individuals and Who Let The Dads Out? groups around the country. Specific holes will be played in honour of the groups which have pledged sponsorship, and each group will receive a certificate with a photograph of Mark and Tony playing its allocated hole in recognition of its support.
In addition, an auction for places to join Mark and Tony on each of the rounds of golf was held, and raised £700.
Golf clubs in the Chester area have been keen to support this event which began in the city.
Mark said: “Who Let The Dads Out? began at Hoole Baptist Church in Chester and has grown into a movement of churches which supports dads and their children across the UK and beyond.
“We are delighted to undertake such an enjoyable fundraising challenge in the area in which it all began. We really appreciate people’s generosity in sponsoring us.”
Tony said: “We are keen golfers, but to play 117 holes in three days will be a genuine challenge! We are very grateful to have morale boosting support from good friends, who will join us on each round, and from the local golf clubs, which have welcomed us with open arms.”
