A BANKING group’s charity work has been praised by the local Member of Parliament.

The Lloyds Banking Group Centre of Excellence in Chester received a visit from Stephen Mosley MP where the Conservative member was given an overview into the charity and community activities in which the members of the group take part.

Lloyds’ north executive committee is aiming to ‘Help Britain Prosper’ by driving investment in local communities and building relationships with individuals and organisations from across the region.

During his visit, Mr Mosley also took part in a question-and-answer session to tell people more about his role and the future plans for Chester.

He said: “Here in Chester we’re fortunate to benefit from a wide pool of financial expertise leading many of the top banks to base offices in the city.

“As such Lloyds Banking Group forms a vital part of Chester’s local economy employing 1,900 people throughout the city.

“I was delighted to sit in on a lively Q&A with Lloyds colleagues and answer their questions about the budget, and in particular the Government’s Help to Buy Scheme where Lloyds are leading the way in getting people on to the property ladder.”

Annette Barnes, chairman of the North executive committee, said Mr Mosley’s visit was beneficial.

She said: “Stephen’s visit was the first of its kind for our Chester operation and it enabled him to see, first hand, the support and commitment we offer our customers and the community.

“It was also key to establishing how we move forward as an organisation and in understanding how the bank, the community, and our customers can all work together effectively in 2014 and beyond to ‘Help Britain Prosper’.”
