PERFORMERS prepared to go “all the way” are being sought for a stage show of one of the 1990s most iconic British films.

Tip Top Productions will be staging The Full Monty at Clwyd Theatr Cymru in June.

The show memorably charts the story of six money-troubled men who turn to stripping to ease their financial woes.

The group has already successfully staged the show at the Mold theatre in 2007, but is now bringing it back by popular demand.

The film was a box office hit when aired on the big screen in 1997, starring actors such as Robert Carlyle of Trainspotting fame and Paul Barber, from Only Fools and Horses.

Tip Top Productions will hold open auditions for all roles in the show.

Director Steve Davis said: “We are looking for a cast of men of all shapes and sizes to take on the roles of the hapless guys who form an amateur group of strippers.

“We have had a few expressions of interest already, but our lead actors must be prepared to go all the way, even if we can be fairly clever with a few tricks and some lighting.

“But the story isn’t just about the men – the wives and girlfriends play a very important part in the story so we are looking forward to hearing from local actors and actresses who are keen to take on the roles.

“There is also the key role of the 12-year-old son of the lead character which is a great role for any young actor to get his teeth into work on the stage. We always get a good response when we perform at Theatre Clwyd and we are looking forward to going back.”

Auditions will take place at The Forum Studio Theatre in Chester on the evening of March 5 and Steve said stars of the company’s shows have gone on to perform regularly in other productions.

“We have a lot of fun and it is always a good laugh when you are putting these things together,” he said. “We do between eight and 10 productions a year and always hold open auditions to get other people involved.”

All audition details can be found on the group’s website at tiptopproductions.co.uk
