ARMED police yesterday swooped on an address in Chester and arrested a third man they believe to be involved in kidnapping a man.
A 22-year-old was arrested at an address in Eardswick Close, Northgate Village and he was taken into custody.
Householders on the estate and walkers and cyclists who were making their way from the route of the Millennium Greenway via the park at the end of Northgate Village were shocked to find at least half a dozen police vehicles lined up in Northgate Avenue.
Later, officers were seen taking away belongings from a house in Eardswick Close.
Police are continuing to investigate allegations that Mark Williams, 23, was kidnapped from a house on Lucerne Close, Huntington, on Friday, October 11 and driven to a secluded location close to Acres Lane, Upton.
There he was allegedly beaten with sledgehammers and robbed of two gold chains worth about £1,500.
A 24-year-old man, Luke John Huston, of Allington Place, Handbridge, has already appeared at West Cheshire Magistrates Court in Chester charged in connection with the incident and a 25-year-old man has been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
The victim sustained serious cuts and bruises.
He was treated at the Countess of Hospital and was later discharged.
Huston will appear before Chester Crown Court on Monday for a preliminary hearing.
