A SPECIAL free concert is being held to launch the new name for an Ellesmere Port traditional band.
Ellesmere Port has had a brass band since 1870 while Ellesmere Port Silver Band has been in existence since the 1950s when it was an elite contesting band.
Over the past few years the band’s musical repertoire has undergone dramatic changes and now concentrates mainly of giving pleasure to the community by performing at fetes, bandstands and concerts.
Members have decided to change the name to Ellesmere Port Concert Brass in order to reflect the changes and give the band a friendlier feel.
A special concert is being held at the Methodist Church on Whitby Road in Ellesmere Port on Thursday, October 31.
All music lovers are invited to attend the free concert by the band before enjoying refreshments and a chance to chat with the players
The concert starts at 7.30pm and more details are available from secretary Joan Ballantine on 07790 761461.
