POLICE investigating an alleged kidnapping and robbery in Chester were scouring an area alongside the A55 yesterday.
Officers spent much of the afternoon searching the carriageway and verges between Hoole and the Welsh border.
Cheshire Police confirmed the search was connected to the ongoing investigation into the alleged kidnapping from an address in Lucerne Close, Huntington.
A 23-year-old man was allegedly taken from the house and driven to Upton before being beaten and robbed. He suffered serious cuts and bruises.
Police arrested Luke John Huston, 24, of Allington Place, Handbridge, and he has since been charged with kidnapping and robbery.
Huston also faces blackmail allegations and has been charged with a series of driving offences. He is due to appear in Chester Crown Court on October 28.
A second man, aged 25, has also been arrested as part of the investigation. He has been released on police bail.
Rolling roadbocks were put in place on the A55 while officers carried out searches, leading to some delays for motorists.
