DETECTIVES are investigating after arsonists torched a car outside a home in a quiet Chester cul-de-sac.
Emergency crews were called to reports of a car on fire on the driveway of a semi-detached house in Pentland Close, Vicars Cross, shortly before 2am yesterday.
Police and firefighters attended and the blaze was extinguished before it could spread to the house.
Cheshire Police confirmed the fire had been started deliberately and investigating officers spent much of yesterday in Pentland Close and the surrounding area.
Police cordons were put in place in the cul-de-sac, neighbouring roads and the nearby park and children’s play area which leads to Hoole Lane.
Detective Inspector Liam Furlong said the investigation was continuing and patrols had been stepped up. He said: “We want to reassure members of the community that we take any incidents of this nature extremely seriously. Our enquiries are continuing and patrols have been stepped up in the area in a bid to reassure residents. Anyone who has any concerns is urged to contact their local neighbourhood policing team.”
No one was injured in the fire and the flames did not cause any damage to the house or surrounding properties.
Anyone who has any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 48 of October 14.
