A MAN was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being involved in a collision with a bus near Ellesmere Port.
Emergency services raced to the north-bound carriageway of the A41 at Backford, near to the turn-off for Ellesmere Port, about 8.45am on Monday, September 23.
An ambulance attended and paramedics took the 59-year-old man to Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool
The pedestrian sustained fractures to his ribs and pelvis, and his condition was initially described as ‘critical’ – although this was later downgraded to ‘serious’.
Police closed the north-bound carriageway for several hours following the crash with diversions put in place leading to congestion.
Cheshire Police spokesman Shelley Smith said: “Police and other emergency services responded to a road collision whereby a man was struck by a bus on the A41 at Backford.
“The circumstances surrounding the collision are now being investigated. Anyone with any information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 172 of September 23.”
