ARMED robbers stole cash from a Chester bank before fleeing the scene.
Two men entered Barclays Bank on Hoole Road, Hoole, shortly before 4pm today (Friday) and demanded money from staff before making off with an unknown quantity of cash.
Reports suggest up to seven police cars and the police helicopter were scrambled, and officers remained on the scene for more than two hours afterwards.
The bank, opposite the Shanghai restaurant, was also cordoned off as a precaution.
No one was hurt, and Cheshire Police have made a plea for information.
Earlier a spokesman said: "Shortly before 4pm today police received reports of an armed robbery at Barclays Bank in Hoole Road, Chester.
"Two men have entered the shop and demanded cash before stealing a quantity of money and fleeing the scene.
"No one was injured as a result of the incident.
“Officers are currently at the scene and enquiries are continuing.
"Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 631 of March 15.
“Information can also be passed on anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.”
