A CHESTER woman has been crowned mum of the year in a national competition.
Just before Mother’s Day, Claire Edge, 32, of Trebourth Road, Blacon, has been named Foxy Mum of the Year 2013 after a nationwide search for a ‘mum in a million’ by Foxy Bingo.
Claire was nominated by her childhood sweetheart and husband Stuart, 35, due to her ongoing love and support towards him and their four children as well as his two daughters, and for being the primary carer for Stuart and their son Dylan, three, who suffers with mental and physical disabilities respectively.
Hundreds of mums were nominated for the award but Claire’s inspirational story saw her win the prestigious title due to not only her commitments at home but also in the workplace, training at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool to learn how to care best for her little boy and raising money and awareness for the hospital’s Ronald MacDonald House.
Claire’s husband Stuart said, “No one deserves this award more than Claire, she is a mum in a million. Claire is a truly special lady, a remarkable mother and always puts everyone before herself whether they are part of the family or not.
“She had no idea I nominated her for this award and telling her she had won was the best news ever, we still can’t believe it.”
Along with taking home the prestigious title, Claire has also won a much deserved holiday of a lifetime to a destination of her choice to enjoy with her family and was awarded her Foxy Mum of the Year title on the same day Foxy crowned Emma Bunton Celebrity Mum of the Year.
Claire said: “I am full time carer for Dylan but I do raise money for Ronald McDonald house but Dylan requires 24-hour care. I worked hard to train to look after Dylan as he requires injections and stoma care. He has epilepsy, is on home oxygen and has multiple heart defects.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be presented with this award, I cried when I saw my trophy for the first time. I still can’t believe I’ve won and want to thank Foxy Bingo for the amazing prize, I can’t wait to go away with Stuart and the kids.”
