AN ATTACK outside a Chester nightspot left a man needing surgery on a severe eye wound.
Police are appealing for information about the assault, which happened shortly after 5am on Sunday, behind Politic night club on Watergate Street.
The assault followed an altercation between two groups of men who had been on a night out and had been visiting the nightclub, which is open until 5.30am on Sunday mornings.
Police said a 22-year-old-man was assaulted and left with what police described as a “severe facial injury”, later confirmed to be his eye.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the victim was rushed to the Countess of Chester Hospital to be treated for the injury, where he remains awaiting surgery.
Police are now looking for the offender, who has been described as a man who was of a stocky build.
Cheshire police spokesman George Perfitt said: “We are only looking for one offender, matching the given description. We don’t know if a weapon was used during the attack and this is currently being investigated.”
