POLICE are appealing for witnesses after four armed men broke into a house and assaulted a man while a woman and two children were in the property.
At about 8.30pm on Sunday, February 24, the four men entered the back door of the address in Crossley Crescent, Hoole, armed with metal poles.
They then assaulted a 48-year-old man.
The men then carried out a search of the property, while a 45-year-old-woman and two girls, aged 11 and 13, were present in the house.
Three of the men then left by the back door, only to return moments later to force their way in through the front door, before all four left the address.
Nothing was taken from the property but the victim of the attack suffered a cut to his head, which was later treated at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
A 29-year-old local man has been arrested and released on police bail in relation to the offence.
