BRITISH indie legends The Charlatans have been announced as the final headliner at this summer’s open-air concerts in Delamere Forest.
In 2007 the Northwich band performed to a sell-out crowd in the forest and are returning as part of the Forestry Commission’s annual concert series Forest Live.
Legendary New York rockers Blondie and Paloma Faith are also performing with thousands of music fans expected to enjoy the concerts.
The Charlatans hit number one in the charts with debut album ‘Some Friendly’ in 1990 and are best known for breakthrough hit ‘The Only One I Know’ and ‘North Country Boy’.
Frontman Tim Burgess said “This is a local gig for the band which makes it extra special for us and also we hope for our fans.
“Last time we were at Delamere Forest it was a great night and we’re looking forward to playing there again.”
The Charlatans are currently working on a new album and are releasing a DVD, ‘Mountain Picnic Blues’ which is a documentary on the band’s 1997 album ‘Tellin’ Stories’.
The group will be performing with special guests at Delamere Forest on Sunday, July 7.
Paloma Faith will be the first act to perform on the specially-built stage on Friday, July 5 with Blondie appearing the following night with special guests The Lightning Seeds.
Forest Live takes place every summer in seven forests around the country with woodland clearings being temporarily transformed into concert arenas
Tickets for The Charlatans plus guests are £34 plus booking fee and go on sale from 9am on Friday, March 1.
