POLICE shut off a section of Chester’s city walls following an alleged daytime sexual assault on a man.
Cheshire Police said officers were called to land off Frodsham Street between the Kaleyard Gate and King Charles’ Tower at about 1.20pm on Friday.
A member of the public called police after becoming concerned about the way two men were acting.
Officers temporarily blocked off a section of the city walls while an investigation was carried out, with passers-by asked to use alternative routes.
A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting another man and has been released on bail pending further investigation.
Cheshire Police spokesman George Perfitt said: “A man in his late 30s is thought to be the victim. He did not receive any injuries.”
