Police hunting post office robbers

THREE masked men who robbed an Ellesmere Port post office and pushed over an employee are being hunted by police.

Cheshire Police said the robbers entered the Overpool Road post office at about 5.25pm on Tuesday.

As they attempted to get into the rear of the post office, an employee tried to block them but was pushed to the ground.

The robbers were not armed but demanded money from two female post office workers and stole cash from the safe before escaping.

All three men were dressed in dark clothing and had their faces and hands covered.

Cheshire Police spokeswoman Rachel Hayes said: “Ellesmere Port police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery at a post office.

“On Tuesday, February 12 at approximately 5.25pm three men entered the post office in Overpool Road in Ellesmere Port.

“They then tried to get into the rear of the post office. A member of staff tried to block their entry but was pushed over.

“The offenders then demanded money off two female members of staff and stole a quantity of cash from the safe before making off.

“All three victims were left unharmed but shaken by their ordeal.

“The offenders are described as wearing tight black material over their faces and dark clothing covering their body and hands.”
