THE leader of the UK Independence Party is to visit Chester to address city business leaders at a special dinner.
Nigel Farage will be the guest speaker at the Chester Business Club event at the Mercure Abbots Well Hotel in Christleton at the end of next month.
Mr Farage, who has overseen UKIP’s
rise in the opinion polls to become, according to recent polls, the nation’s third largest political party, will be speaking to guests on a variety of political issues, including the current debate over EU membership.
Club secretary Bob Clough-Parker said: “With the next European Parliament elections just over a year away and with opinion polls indicating a surge of support for his party, Mr Farage’s visit is timely, especially given the debate currently raging over EU membership and the Prime Minister’s commitment last week to hold an in-out referendum on the issue.
“As a club, we are a non-party-political organisation but we take a close interest in political issues because almost every decision taken by a government has an implication, good or bad, on the business community.
“Our role is to provide an impartial platform for the debate and discussion of the important issues of the day, especially how they impact on businesses and we are looking forward to welcoming Nigel Farage and hearing what is bound to be a forthright take on the state of European and UK politics.”
The dinner will take place on Thursday, February 28, with a drinks reception at 7.15pm followed by dinner at 7.45pm.
Tickets for the event cost £35 and can be requested by calling 01244 350235 or emailing info@chesterbusinessclub.co.uk.
