Cheshire residents dig in to plant community orchard

HUNTINGTON and Great Boughton residents will soon be able to enjoy a community orchard.

The Friends of Caldy Valley Nature Park and United Youth have teamed up to create the new orchard near to Caldy Valley Nature Park.

Cadets, Scouts and nature park users turned out in the snow and mud on Saturday to help plant fruit trees with help from Chester MP Stephen Mosley.

“It was great to see the local community out in force, doing something which will benefit numerous people in the area for years to come,” said Mr Mosley.

“While young people sometimes get a bad name, this certainly does not match with my experiences, and couldn’t be further from the truth for the young people who gave up their time to help on Saturday morning.

“I look forward to watching the orchard grow.”
