A NEW campaign to attract more visitors to Chester will promote the city as the perfect place for romantic getaways.
Marketing Cheshire and VisitEngland are behind the initiative which will showcase boutique accommodation, quality restaurants, indulgent activities and the spectacular historic settings Britain’s heritage cities offer.
Businesses supporting the campaign include the Chester Grosvenor, Abode Chester and Chester Zoo.
Nicola Said, Marketing Cheshire’s head of marketing, said: ‘Chester welcomes over eight million visitors from across the world who fall in love with the city’s breath-taking buildings, fabulous shopping and irresistible restaurants.
“It’s a wonderful place to share quality time and experiences with your partner and its glorious settings are a great backdrop for pictures too.”
The campaign will be promoted using the internet and in partnership with the national media.
There will also be Facebook competitions, video content and a dedicated section on the visitengland.com website.
James Berresford, chief executive of VisitEngland, said: “This campaign is the first of several launching this year with the aim of growing tourism in England.
“Starting in time for the run up to Valentine’s Day and Easter, the campaign promotes some of England’s most beautiful historic destinations.
“This is a great example of the industry working in partnership to stimulate tourism and grow jobs throughout the country.”
