CHESTER FC will trade their traditional blue and white stripes for pink and white when they take to the field this weekend.
Blues players are donning a specially designed kit for tomorrow’s encounter with Histon as part of the club’s third annual Think Pink day at the Exacta Stadium.
The club, which has raised more than £9,000 over the past two years of the event, is aiming to raise over £10,000 this weekend for the Breast Cancer Unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital with the money raised going towards the purchase of a specialist breast tissue X-ray machine.
As well as the players on the pitch wearing pink, fans are also being encouraged to wear pink for the match.
In addition to collections there will be a charity balloon race before kick-off, where 3,000 sponsored pink balloons will be released, with prizes up for grabs including a week’s holiday in Marbella.
The club shop will be selling the special edition pink and blue home shirt following tomorrow’s match, with 150 available, each priced at £40, as well as ‘Think Pink’ merchandise including commemorative pink T-shirts to celebrate the event.
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 3pm, with the balloon race being launched from the centre of the pitch half an hour earlier.
