A CHESTER hairdresser has scooped a national award.
Tom Wright, 25, a creative stylist at Soul Hair on Watergate Row, was awarded the UK Bronze Award in the Young Talent category of the Wella Professionals TrendVision UK and Ireland Awards at the Camden Roundhouse Theatre in London.
Tom, a former pupil at the Catholic High School in Chester, beat competition from the cream of the UK and Ireland’s young hairdressers to claim the accolade, which was presented to him by BBC Radio 1 DJ, Reggie Yates.
“It was great to be recognised for the award and I was absolutely ecstatic about it,” said Tom, who lives in Chester.
“We attended the event on Monday day and then attended the gala in the evening. That’s when I found out that I had won and I was delighted.
“I put my all into the event, prepared fully and put in lots of hard work. It all paid off in the end and it goes to show that hard work gets results.”
Tom, who has worked for Wella on London Fashion Week during the past 12 months, is now hoping that his accolade will lead to future successes in the future, with his sights firmly set on claiming an award at the British Hairdresser of the Year Awards in the future.
“I will be entering the TrendVision Awards again next year and will be going for gold this time,” said Tom, who will be heading to Florence later this month to work on a fashion shoot.
“I have lots of goals that I want to achieve in the industry and one of those is to bag a British Hairdresser of the Year Award, which is like the Oscars of the hairdressing industry.
“My aim is to become a session stylist at major fashion events all over the world and, hopefully, if I keep on improving it will become a reality.”

“He has done fantastically well to achieve what he has done and he is a real asset to our business.”
