Robert Bisset, chief executive of Chester Aid to the Homeless charity, limbers up ahead of his back-to-back marathon feat

A CHARITY boss is limbering up for a back to back marathon feat in which he aims to raise vital funds for the city’s homeless.

Robert Bisset, chief executive of Chester Aid to the Homeless, aims to complete both the Chester and Liverpool marathons, which are seven days apart, with the first leg of his inspirational challenge starting in Chester on Sunday.

Robert, from Willaston, Wirral, will head for the Liverpool Marathon starting line the following Sunday, October 14.

Robert, 58, also hopes to raise important funds for Chester’s new foodbank resource which is soon to open in the city.

He last ran a marathon nearly 30 years ago, but has been a dedicated runner ever since.

For this latest challenge, Robert has been running daily, sometimes up to 13 miles, in preparation.

He said: “I am a little apprehensive about the challenge but I am also committed to raising the profile of Chester Aid to the Homeless and the important new learning zone services that will form the focus of the charity in the future, and also raising vital funds for the charity and for the Foodbank services for Chester.

“I would ask as many people as possible to support me in helping to do just that.”

Chester Aid to the Homeless was dealt a blow earlier this year when the organisation was told £600,000 in funding would be cut, leading to reduced services including those currently operating at the Harold Tomlins Centre.

The Harold Tomlins Centre is now also set to become a learning zone and will be funded by the Big Lottery.

Previously businesses, organisations and community members have braved the elements for the cause.
