AMBITIOUS plans could see a Chester youth centre transformed.
Ideas for Square1 in Vicars Cross include a stage for performances and improved cafe and changing facilities.
Great Boughton Parish Council plans to lease the building from Cheshire West and Chester Council for the benefit of the local community.
The council launched a community consultation where residents were joined by City of Chester MP Stephen Mosley to share ideas.
Highlighting the success of other village halls in Chester’s suburbs, Mr Mosley said: “It is great that Great Boughton Parish Council want to provide a facility for local residents.
“Where such centres already exist they are over-subscribed and widely used.
“I hope Vicars Cross residents put forward their desires for the future of the Square1 centre, and that, in future, they will make the most of this local facility.”
Parish councillor Nigel Haslock, who is championing the plans on behalf of the Parish Council, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for local residents, and I would urge them to get on board in shaping the future of this local facility.”
Local Cheshire West and Chester councillor Pamela Hall, who also attended the consultation, said: “This is a great opportunity for the parish council, and fits in with Cheshire West and Chester Council’s aims of supporting localism.
“Square1 has a new chance to become a hub for a wide variety of community activities for all residents including children, families and older people.
“Cllr Board and I would encourage local residents to come forward with suggestions for what they want to see here.”
