POLICE closed the A41 at Broxton earlier today after a serious crash involving a lorry and two cars.

Cheshire Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision  shortly after 8am on Tuesday.

The crash involved two cars and a heavy goods vehicle, which had partially shed its load of metal cradles that collided with oncoming traffic.

The driver of a Mercedes was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with head injuries.

The A41 was closed from Sainsbury's roundabout to Broxton and drivers were advised to seek alternative routes.

The road was reopened at about 1.30pm.
