Gary Alman was jailed for nine years at Chester Crown Court

A PAEDOPHILE has been jailed for repeatedly raping a girl and subjecting her to five years of “systematic” abuse.

Gary Alman, 20, was jailed for nine years at Chester Crown Court after admitting seven counts of sexual activity with a child, including three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

His victim was just six years old when Alman first abused her and the abuse continued until she was 11.

Judge Roger Dutton told Alman he had treated his victim as “an object of sexual satisfaction” and made him the subject of a sexual offences prevention order for the rest of his life.

He said: “You treated her as somebody who could relieve you of your sexual frustration.

“It may be in the fullness of time you will come to realise just how awful the ordeal you subjected her to was."

Mark Connor, prosecuting, told the court Alman's victim had not told anybody about the abuse she was subjected to until late last year. “She was terrified of not being believed and scared of the consequences.”

Mr Connor said Alman had told his victim he was “sick” when she confronted him about what he had done on Facebook.

Alman had earlier pleaded guilty to three counts of raping the girl over a period of four years in Chester, three counts of sexually assaulting over five years and of causing a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity over a two-year timespan.

Defending, Simon Mills said Alman had “distorted perceptions” about what he had done but he hoped to be offered a treatment programme in prison to confront his problems.

Jailing Alman, of no fixed abode but from Chester, Judge Dutton said he had to balance the fact he was a much younger man when he abused his victim against the serious nature of his crimes.

He told Alman he would be prevented from working with children and having unsupervised contact with children for the rest of his life.

In March Alman was sentenced to two years in a young offenders institution for attempted robbery. He had admitted attempting to steal a handbag from a 71-year-old woman on the canal towpath in Chester.

His elderly victim refused to let go of the handbag and was dragged along the ground by Alman.
