Police found the 42-year-old man in a car parked on a quiet lane in Mickle Trafford 

MYSTERY surrounds the death of a man who was found in a car in a quiet lane on the outskirts of Chester.

Officers from Cheshire Police found the 42-year-old man in a car parked in The Street, Mickle Trafford, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Emergency services had been called shortly after 6.40pm following reports a man was unconscious in the car.

Detectives initially said they were treating his death as suspicious but a post-mortem examination carried out  revealed the man had injuries consistent with a fall or impact to the body.

Police now say there are no suspicious circumstances around the death of the man, who is believed to be from the Greater Manchester area.

His next of kin have been informed and Cheshire coroner Nicholas Rheinberg is expected to open an inquest shortly.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “A Home Office post-mortem examination was conducted on Tuesday evening.

“The findings concluded the injuries sustained by the 42-year-old were consistent with falling over or having an impact to the left hand side of the body.

“The deceased’s next of kin have now been informed. The inquest to establish the identity of the man is not yet opened but the man is believed to be a 42-year-old from the Greater Manchester area.

“The cause of death will be ascertained at the formal inquest.” The  man was found dead on Monday afternoon.
