REMPLOY workers will be taking industrial again today.
Members of the Unite and GMB unions across Wales are to take a second day of strike action against the threatened closure of Remploy factories in Wales, including Wrexham’s Railway Road site.
Unite Wales Secretary Andy Richards said: “There was solid support from workers and the public alike for the Remploy action last week and that looks set to continue as we enter a second day of strike action.
“Our members have been treated with total contempt and disrespect by the UK coalition government – they could learn a lesson or two from our own Welsh Government who have demonstrated ongoing support for Remploy in Wales.
“This support is to be welcomed and we will continue to work with those who have the best interests of Remploy at heart, including any further potential bids for sites as hopefully appears to be the case in Wrexham – something I hope to be able to discuss with members when I visit on Thursday.
“One thing is for sure, both the unions and Remploy workers are committed to fighting for their future.”
The Unite Wales Secretary will be joined at the Remploy Wrexham site by local reps, officials and other supporters today.
