A CRITICALLY acclaimed American folk singer is on her way to Colwyn Bay.
Anais Mitchell will perform at Theatr Colwyn on Tuesday, July 31, hot on the heels of a successful UK tour.
A Theatr Colwyn spokesman said it was a coup to bring the Vermont-born artist to the Bay.
He added: “She is an artist of rare talent with a truly original style who writes and sings songs of incredible beauty, poetry and truth.
“It’s going to be a great night and we hope this gig will be very well supported.”
Anais received critical praise in the UK for her 2010 album Hadestown, a modern retelling of the Orpheus myth, which featured Justin Vernon of Bon Iver.
She has recently appeared in session on Cerys Matthews show for BBC 6Music, with Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 and on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
Her new album Young Man in America - hailed by critics as a “fierce, melodic affirmation of sadness and grief, love and lust” - is a sprawling tale of a reckless character’s search for fame and success.
