THOUSANDS of screaming school children cheered the Olympic Torch through the centre of Welshpool on Wednesday (May 30).

15-year-old Welshpool High School pupil Adele Nicoll was the first torch bearer, starting off from the High School and handing over to heavily pregnant runner Hayley Lynch at the Cross at the end of Welshpool's Broad Street.

For a full Olympic Relay picture spread, including pictures of pupils from Meifod, Guilsfield, Four Crosses, Forden, Arddleen, Gungrog, Oldford, Ardwyn, St Mary’s, Llanfair Caereinion, Newtown, Dyffryn Banw and Castle Caereinion - pick up a copy of this week's County Times, out tomorrow afternoon.
