YOUNG footballers have been honing their skills under the expertise of Chester FC striker Michael Wilde.
Youngsters aged between seven and 16 have taken part in a three-day sports academy run by Chester’s star forward, at Blacon High School.
Intended to strengthen links between the flourishing club and local communities, the Cheshire West and Chester Council funded scheme, backed by Blacon councillors, also aims to improve health and well being while reducing anti-social behaviour.
Michael Wilde and a team of fellow experts including Blacon-born Blues player Levi Mackin and coach Steve Murphy worked with the youngsters in partnership with police and officials at the Exacta Stadium, on Bumpers Lane.
Youngsters will receive a signed photograph, individual player pictures, a certificate, a ticket to a Chester FC fixture as well as a
medal.
Trophies will also be awarded to children
that have shown sportsmanship, good attitude, effort and ability.
Meanwhile, the MW dance academy was rolled out at the same time and venue as the sports academy.
At the end of three days the children performed a routine choreographed by a professional dance coach.
They will go on to dance in front of the home crowd at the Chester FC v Buxton FC on Saturday.
